Dr. Mammen is not only committed to providing all of his patients with the very best that modern dentistry has to offer but is continually expanding his own knowledge through continuing education (CE). He has completed over 1000 hours of CE courses throughout his career. He feels the hands on training and lectures keep him up to date in the cutting edge advancements of dentistry. Dr. Mammen believes every patient should be given the best dentistry has to offer and the only way to do that is to continue to learn.
Educational Background
Dr. Mammen grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He graduated high school from the prestigious Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts in 1991 and went on to complete his undergraduate studies in 1995 at Washington University in St. Louis, MO where he double majored in Anthropology and Biology.
Dr. Mammen attended dental school at one of the country’s top Ivy League institutions, the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree in 1999. After receiving his degree in dentistry, Dr. Mammen went on active duty as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He first completed a general dentistry residency at Fort Carson, CO in 2000. He then served as the Officer in Charge at both Camp Edwards and Camp Greaves in Korea. Dr. Mammen completed his military service as a staff General Dentist at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY.
Professional Experience and Associations
Following his military service, Dr. Mammen moved to Connecticut where he was offered an opportunity to help establish and develop the dental department at East Hartford Community HealthCare as the center’s first Dental Director.
As the Director, Dr. Mammen was instrumental in not only developing the dental department but also worked with other community leaders in establishing the standard of dental care for the community. He held this position from 2002-2007. During this time, Dr. Mammen was also appointed as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where he was responsible for supervising the students and residents in their treatment of patients. In 2005, with his continued commitment to education, Dr. Mammen became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.). Only a small percentage of dentists are dedicated to the time and education that is required to accomplish this recognition.
Upon moving to Houston, Dr. Mammen entered private practice as the owner of The Smile Enhancement Center. He later founded Mint Family Dental in Katy, Tx where he now practices full time. He continues his commitment of excellence in dentistry by providing the highest standard of general and cosmetic dentistry with a personalized touch. Dr. Mammen is here to provide you with all of your dental needs: from a simple filling to full mouth rehabilitation. Dr. Mammen prides himself on providing the best treatment for each individual patient. He and his Team believe that each patient should be treated like family and that every patient deserves to be treated to a warm, relaxed, and caring experience during each visit.
Dr. Mammen is an active member in the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Pierre Fauchard Academy (a dental honor society), and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Mammen and his wife, Anju, reside in the Katy area where his wife practices in a thriving pediatric practice. They have 3 wonderful children: Kiran, Maya, and Naveen who keep them busy outside of their practices. Dr. Mammen is also an avid sports fan and a huge Green Bay Packer's fan (Go Pack)!. He enjoys playing all sports and spending time with friends and family.
