Educational Background
Dr. Mammen grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and graduated from the renowned Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, in 1991. He went on to earn a double major in Anthropology and Biology at Washington University in St. Louis, completing his undergraduate studies in 1995.
In 1999, Dr. Mammen received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, one of the nation’s leading Ivy League dental schools.
Following graduation, he served on active duty as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He completed a General Dentistry residency at Fort Carson, Colorado, in 2000, and went on to serve as Officer in Charge at both Camp Edwards and Camp Greaves in Korea. Dr. Mammen concluded his military service as a staff General Dentist at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.
Professional Experience and Associations
Following his military service, Dr. Mammen moved to Connecticut, where he was invited to establish and lead the dental department at East Hartford Community HealthCare as the center’s first Dental Director. From 2002 to 2007, he was instrumental in building the department and collaborating with community leaders to set the standard of dental care for the area.
During this time, he also served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where he supervised students and residents in patient care. In 2005, Dr. Mammen earned the distinguished title of Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.), an honor achieved by only a small percentage of dentists nationwide who dedicate themselves to advanced education and lifelong learning.
After relocating to Houston, Dr. Mammen entered private practice as the owner of The Smile Enhancement Center. He later founded Mint Family Dental in Katy, TX, where he now practices full-time. His commitment remains the same: to provide the highest standard of general and cosmetic dentistry with a personalized touch. From simple fillings to full-mouth rehabilitation, Dr. Mammen takes pride in tailoring care to each patient’s unique needs. He and his team believe that every patient deserves to be treated like family and to be cared for in a warm, relaxed, and supportive environment.
Dr. Mammen is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Pierre Fauchard Academy (a dental honor society), and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Mammen and his wife, Anju—a pediatrician in Katy—enjoy raising their three wonderful children: Kiran, Maya, and Naveen who keep them busy outside of their practices. A lifelong sports enthusiast and proud Green Bay Packers fan (Go Pack Go!), Dr. Mammen enjoys playing sports and spending quality time with friends and family.
